Del Lago is one of Long Beach's few gated single-family communities, tucked between Bay Harbour, Bixby Village, and Alamitos Heights near Pacific Coast Highway. Built between 1978 and 1985, its 125 homes are newer than most Long Beach housing stock, with a consistent Spanish Mediterranean look — clay tile roofs, courtyards, and two-car attached garages.
Compared to the early-20th-century housing that defines much of east Long Beach, Del Lago feels like a different era — and that's the point. Homes here run 2,400 to 3,000 square feet, larger than much of the surrounding inventory, with floor plans designed for modern living rather than a century-old footprint. Select homes back onto Sims Pond, a wildlife ecological reserve, offering water views in a guard-gated setting.
Del Lago homes have recently sold in the $1.08–1.16 million range, with relatively low HOA dues covering the guard gate and grounds maintenance. The combination of newer construction, larger square footage, and gated security positions Del Lago as a premium option for buyers who want more contemporary living without leaving east Long Beach.
Del Lago's location puts the Long Beach Marina, Marina Pacifica's shopping and dining, and Alamitos Bay all within a short drive or bike ride. The gated layout means quiet streets, while the surrounding Bay Harbour and Bixby Village neighborhoods add golf, marina access, and additional dining options nearby.
Del Lago is served by Long Beach Unified School District, with Naples Elementary and Wilson High School among the highly rated options in the surrounding Alamitos Heights/Marina area.
Pacific Coast Highway runs along the neighborhood's eastern edge, providing quick access to the 405, Seal Beach, and Belmont Shore. The gated entry adds privacy without sacrificing the convenience of a major corridor at the doorstep.
Del Lago suits buyers who want a newer home with a more contemporary floor plan, gated security, and proximity to the marina — at a price point below true waterfront property. The tradeoff is smaller lot sizes than some surrounding neighborhoods, though the larger home sizes and gated privacy more than compensate for many buyers. For those prioritizing move-in-ready, low-maintenance living in east Long Beach, it's a strong option.
